Terms of use
The short version: FillUpMate is a free guide. Prices can be inaccurate or out of date, the “worth the drive” numbers are estimates, and you should never use it while driving. You use it at your own risk, and the decisions you make are yours.
Always check the price on the bowser before you fill up. The price shown at the station is the price you pay.
Don’t use FillUpMate while driving. Use it before you set off, when parked, or ask a passenger. Follow the road rules.
1. About these terms
FillUpMate (“we”, “us”) is a free, non-commercial personal project run by an individual in New South Wales to help people find cheaper fuel. It has no ads and earns no money. By using fillupmate.com.au or any related site (the “service”), you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the service.
2. What the service is
FillUpMate shows retail fuel prices that service stations report under state and territory government price-reporting schemes, and helps you compare them. It is general information only. It is not financial, legal or any other professional advice. The service is free and you don’t need an account.
3. We are independent
FillUpMate is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any government, government agency, price-reporting scheme or fuel retailer. Station and brand names belong to their owners and are shown only so you can identify each station.
4. Prices can be inaccurate, delayed or out of date
- Retailers report the prices, and we receive them from the government schemes listed below. We don’t set, check or guarantee any price.
- Prices change during the day and may change after we last updated them. Each price shows when it was last updated.
- Some data is published late on purpose. Victorian prices, for example, are released about 24 hours after the retailer reports them.
- A station may be closed, out of a fuel type, or charge a different price at the bowser. We don’t sell fuel and aren’t responsible for what any station charges.
5. “Worth the drive” is an estimate
When you share your location, FillUpMate estimates whether a cheaper station is worth the extra trip. It compares each station with your closest one and takes away the fuel you would burn on the extra round trip.
The estimate uses straight-line distance × 1.3 in place of a real route, an average speed of 35 km/h, and the fill size and fuel use you enter (or our defaults). It does not account for traffic, tolls, roadworks, one-way streets, queues, opening hours or your vehicle’s condition. Treat it as a rough guide only.
6. Using the service safely and fairly
- Never interact with the service while driving, and never make an unsafe or illegal manoeuvre to reach a station.
- Don’t try to disrupt, overload, reverse engineer or gain unauthorised access to the service.
- Don’t scrape or bulk-download the data, or republish it in a way that breaches the source licences below.
7. Data sources and licences
The price data belongs to its publishers and is used under their terms:

8. Availability and changes
We provide the service free of charge and may change, suspend or stop it, or any part of it, at any time without notice. We don’t promise that it will be available, uninterrupted or free of errors.
9. Your responsibility
You use FillUpMate at your own risk. You are responsible for your own decisions, including which station you go to, when and how much fuel you buy, the route you take and how you drive. It is up to you to check that a price, a station and a trip suit you before you rely on them.
To the extent permitted by law, you agree that you won’t hold FillUpMate, or the person who runs it, responsible for any loss, cost, damage, fine or injury that results from those decisions or from relying on the service, including a price that turns out to be different at the bowser or a trip that wasn’t worth it.
10. Your rights under Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy, or any guarantee, warranty or other term or condition, that is implied or imposed by the Australian Consumer Law or any other law and cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
11. Limitation of liability
Subject to section 10, the service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- we exclude all warranties, guarantees and conditions not expressly set out in these terms;
- we are not liable for any loss or damage, including indirect or consequential loss, lost savings or wasted travel, that arises from your use of, or reliance on, the service or its data; and
- where our liability can’t be excluded but can be limited, it is limited to supplying the service again or paying the cost of having it supplied again.
12. Links to other services
The service links to third-party sites and apps, such as Google Maps for directions. We don’t control them, and their own terms and privacy policies apply.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed. If you keep using the service after a change, you accept the updated terms.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. You and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of its courts.
15. Contact
