Privacy

We built FillUpMate to work without knowing who you are. There are no accounts, cookies, analytics or ad trackers, and your location never reaches us.

In one line: we don’t collect personal information. A few third parties that make the site work (our host and the map tile provider) see your IP address, the same as for any website. They are listed below.

Who we are

FillUpMate is a free, non-commercial personal project run by an individual in New South Wales. This policy explains how we handle information when you use fillupmate.com.au and related sites. We aim to follow the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) for any personal information we handle, even where the Act may not strictly apply.

Your location

Stored on your device

Your browser’s local storage keeps your chosen fuel type and your car settings (litres per fill and fuel use), so they are still there next time. This stays on your device and is never sent to us. Clearing your site data in your browser removes it. We don’t use cookies.

Third parties that make the site work

WhoWhat they receiveWhy
Netlify (United States)Your IP address, browser type and the pages and data files requested, in server logs. Contact form submissions, if you send one.Hosts the website and the price data, receives contact messages, and protects the site from abuse.
OpenFreeMapYour IP address and requests for the map tiles of the area you are viewing.Draws the map. Like any online map, the tiles you load show roughly which area is on your screen.
Google MapsOnly if you tap Directions: the station’s location, opened in Google Maps.Directions to the station. Google’s privacy policy applies once you are there.

Because Netlify and OpenFreeMap operate outside Australia, this technical information may be processed overseas. We don’t sell, rent or trade information, and we don’t use it for advertising or profiling. The site loads no third-party scripts, and the fonts are hosted by us.

If you contact us

The contact form sends your message, the topic and, only if you choose to add it, your email address. Netlify stores the submission for us (in the United States) and runs automatic spam filtering on it. We use it only to deal with your message and delete it once that’s done.

Children

The service is meant for drivers and isn’t directed at children.

Access, correction and complaints

To ask what information we hold about you, or to make a privacy complaint, use the contact form and choose “Privacy request or complaint”. Include an email address so we can reply. We will respond within 30 days. If you’re not satisfied, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

Changes

If we change how we handle information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
